Hello: My name is Jim Ott and I am a Retired Hospital Administrator and RN. I have always been interested in weapons including swords. I am just now reading through Richard F. Burton’s, “Book of Swords.” Last published in the late 1890’s prior to his death. Burton was a world traveler and was one of the few Christians who successfully was able to visit Medina and actually touch the Holy of Holies. He was able to pass as a Moslem and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East. Also he had visited the US during the Civil WEar and reported extensively about both sides ; although by inclination and breeding he was an avowed Southern Sympathizer. After he passed away much of his written work was destroyed by his wife who reflected the typical Victorian prudishness of the time and obviously he didn’t. My wife and I live in Western North Carolina. I hope you will enjoy this website although right now it is certainly a work in progress. Take care and visit me often.
